Rich and Creamy Hot chocolate

Hot Chocolate is a delicious chocolate drink and you can make a lot of variations in the procedure which can make it more delicious and rich. It is rich in antioxidants and is a comfort drink during this cold weather. You can prepare hot chocolate with semisweet, dark chocolate or bitter sweet chocolate. I like the semisweet and that is what I have used in this recipe. You can prepare this as a welcome drink for your family and friends during the Christmas or New year eve. Try this and enjoy. Ingredients:

  • Semisweet chocolate – 1/4 cup
  • Store bought hot cocoa mix – 1 packet (or 2 tbsp)
  • Whole milk – 2 cups
  • Heavy whipping cream – 3/4 cup
  • Instant milk powder – 1/2 tsp (optional)
  • 2 drops of vanilla essence
  • Sugar – 2 tbsp
  • a pinch of ground cinnamon
  • Whipped cream for garnish
  • Chocolate shavings for garnish
  • Chopped pistachios for garnish
Method of Preparation:
  1. In a sauce pan mix together milk, vanilla essence, milk powder, cinnamon, sugar and bring to boil by stirring constantly. Remove from heat and set it aside.
  2. Melt chocolate in the top of a double boiler and add the hot cocoa mix and mix well.
  3. When it is smooth, add hot milk from the sauce pan and mix everything. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  4. In a blender, add 1/2 cup of whipping cream and the mixture. Blend until smooth and foamy.

  6. In two serving cups, divide and add the remaining 1/4 cup cold whipped cream and add the hot mixture over it.
