Mexican cuisine is known for its variety of flavours. They have simple and traditional dishes. The first time I had Mexican food, I really didn’t think it will grow so much on me. Whenever I browse for a new recipe, Mexican cuisine is always in my choice. For the past few days, I have been drooling on Mexican food. I am so addicted that I am planning on trying different dishes. I am here starting with the Cheese Quesadilla. Cheese Quesadilla is so simple and yummy that I can have a bite of it anytime. One can eat healthy using less cheese and loads of vegetables. I tried it both ways and believe me it was mouth watering nonetheless. I served it with a scoop of Guacamole and Sour Cream (totally optional) and it made my day. Here you...

Italian Cuisine is one of my favourite cuisine. Specially those refreshing garlic bread that is served in the Italian restaurants are simply inviting. I always have a craving for those breads. I happened to see the ready made frozen garlic bread in one of the grocery shop here. So I bought and tried it. The taste was awesome but it was filled with butter. So we thought of trying it at home and gave it a shot. It came out so good and yummy and also with less butter on it. Now it has become a regular snack for us with tea. Here you go… Ingredients: Frech or Italian bread – 1 large loaf Butter – 1/2 stick Garlic powder – 1 tbsp (or garlic cloves – 3) Chopped Parsley – 3 tbsp (or dried parsley flakes – 1...

Baklawa – The Sweetheart Middle Eastern Dessert

Posted by on Oct 16, 2008 in Best of ST, Desserts, Featured, Middle Eastern | 27 comments

Baklawa is a signature middle-eastern dessert and is a favorite favorie favorite sweet of mine. I used to pester my hubby often to get this from a middle-eastern restaurant in town. It is even our make-up dessert after our little fights. That’s how much I like it. Even though I have tried my hand at baking a little, Baklawa seemed very intimidating to make it in my kitchen. And just the other day, I was talking to an old time school friend of mine, Subash. He is now a chef and when we started talking about food, he mentioned he had a simple to make yet an authentic recipe for Baklawa from a Labanese chef. He was kind enough to share it with me and a huge THANKS to you, Subash. Ingredients: Phillo pastry : 1 pack Sugar :...

Pasta Con Broccoli

Posted by on Oct 6, 2008 in Featured, Italian | 9 comments

Pasta Con Broccoli is one of my favourite Italian food. I first had it in one of the best Italian restaurant in Edwards ville, Illinois. From then, I desperately wanted to try this at home. From the taste of the pasta, I could guess the ingredients to an extent. It was rich and creamy with cheese, sauce, butter, garlic, mushroom, lots of broccoli in cooked shells and seasoned with pepper. It is simple to make and delicious to have. You will definitely like it. My version of pasta is with less cheese and no cream. So it may not look creamy. But believe me the taste will be really good. Ingredients: Pasta shells – 1lb (I used Rotini) Pasta sauce – 1/4 cup Butter – 2 tbsp Heavy whipping cream – 1 cup (optional) Parmesan cheese – 1/4 cup...
