Half and Half Pizza

This is called Half and Half Pizza because of the two different sauce in it. I have used Alfredo sauce and marinara sauce. Alfredo sauce is a creamy, cheesy white sauce which usually accompanies pasta. Marinara is an Italian tomato sauce with onion, garlic and herbs. You can just use marinara sauce or Alfredo sauce or both just like how I have used. I like my pizza loaded with toppings. You can add any of your favorite vegetables or meat in the pizza. I feel less guilty because of adding all these vegetables. I like them sauted as well.

Cheese is another important ingredient that makes pizza interesting. I have used fresh mozzarella and fontina cheese. I like to explore with different types of cheese. You can use your favorite cheese. Just mix and match or go with one type. You can use infused olive oil or plain olive oil. I make my own infused olive oil. Will share the recipe soon. Make sure your oven is hot and do not open in between. You need to maintain the heat for making a crispy and fully cooked pizza. Enjoy the homemade pizza with family and friends…

Ingredients:

  • Pizza dough for one Pizza
  • Marinara sauce – 1 cup
  • Alfredo sauce – 1 cup
  • Fresh mozzarella – 1/2  cup
  • Fontina cheese – 1/2 cup
  • Italian seasoning – 2 tsp
  • Infused olive oil – 3 tbsp (can substitute with regular olive oil)

Toppings:

  • Thinly sliced onions – 1 cup
  • Broccoli – 1/2 cup
  • Sliced mushroom – 1/2 cup
  • Spinach – 1/2 cup
  • Tomato – 1
  • A few Jalapeno slices (fresh or pickled)
  • Paneer (Indian cottage cheese) – 1/4 cup
  • Fresh Basil – 6 to 7 leaves

Method of Preparation:

Preheat oven to 500ºF and let it stand for atleast 20 minutes.

Heat a tsp of oil in a pan and saute onions till they start sizzling not too much. Remove from pan.

Saute mushroom and broccoli separately with Italian seasoning . Just sprinkle some. If you don’t have you can leave it out.  Saute spinach until just before they start shrinking.

Roll the basil leaves together and cut it into thin strips. Add a little more oil and saute paneer until golden brown in color. Keep everything ready in a plate.

Roll pizza dough on a flat surface and spread it on the pizza stone or tray. I roll it neither thick nor thin. You can roll it accordingly.

I have used infused olive oil to spread on top of the dough. Just brush some on top.

Add marinara sauce and Alfredo sauce on two sides of the dough and spread it like you see in the picture.

Sprinkle all the vegetables on top. Spread it equally all over the pizza and finally add small pieces of both the cheese. Add more or less cheese according to your taste.
Bake it for 15 to 20 minutes or until the edges are brown and the cheese is bubbling.

Hot homemade pizza is ready to serve.
You can serve it as it is or with with marinara sauce.
