Poricha Kuzhambhu
This is something different and simple from other poricha kuzhumbhu recipes. When you want to cook something delicious, simple but in a short time. Here is the recipe.

Ingredients:
- Drumsticks : 8(Frozen or You can use fresh )
- Onions : 1 (Big) (sliced lengthwise)
- Tomatoes : 2 (finely chopped)
- Coriander powder : 1 tbsp
- Red chili powder : 1 1/2 tbsp
- Cumin powder : 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric Powder : 1 tsp
- Garlic : 8
- Curry leaves :6 springs
- Coriander leaves : 2 tbsp (for garnishing)
- Coconut : 2 tbsp (Grated)
- Oil : 2 tbsp
For seasonings:
- oil : 2 tsp
- Mustard seeds : 1/2 tsp
- Urad dal : 1/2 tsp
- Cumin seeds : 1 tsp
Method of Preparation :
- Heat oil in a cooking vessel, add onions and fry them until it becomes translucent.
- Now add the chopped garlics and fry them up to 3 mins . Then add the curry leaves fry them.
- Add the tomatoes fry them but don’t over cook the tomatoes and add red chili powder, coriander powder,cumin powder turmeric powder and salt and mix them well. Fry this mixture for another 4 mins in low flame.
- Now add the drum sticks and mix it well with the above mixture and pour a glass of water. Boil it for 6 mins or until the drumsticks get cooked.
- When it’ s boiling you can do this by side, heat a pan with oil and add the seasonings when the seeds splutter remove from heat and put it in the mixture .
- Before you remove the mixture from heat add the Grated coconut and mix well with the mixture.
- Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves .
Serve with rice and pappadams.
Tip:
- You can add sambar powder– 1 tbsp when you don’t have coriander powder.
- You can also make this when you are out of dals. It goes well with rice or idli.
- You can also use Brinjal/Eggplant instead of drumsticks or you can use both.But if you are using Brinjal/Eggplant fry them in oil before you put it in the mixture.
u can also try it by adding coconut milk. this is sri lankan style. try it its tasty.
